During the latest regular meeting of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee, Abdulbasit Abdullatif, the Coordinator of the Al-Jazeera and Al-Furat Working Group, presented a comprehensive report on the group’s activities. The focus of the report was the examination of field conditions in the town of Tal Abyad in rural Raqqa.
Abdullatif highlighted the challenges faced by the region in the realm of education, citing issues such as a shortage of qualified teachers, insufficient schools, and the escalating costs of education. These challenges are exacerbated by the difficult economic conditions prevailing in the region.
Furthermore, Abdullatif addressed the persistent attacks by Iranian militia and the infractions committed by the PYD militia in east of the Euphrates. He specifically outlined new violations and acts of violence against civilians in the town of Al-Kasra, prompting local tribes to declare a general mobilization. This has resulted in widespread demonstrations and a general strike in the town of Manbij, driven by the PYD militia’s arrest campaigns targeting forced conscription.
